Certified Playground Safety Inspector (CPSI) Course

Wednesday, August 21: Registration @7:30 a.m., Class 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., 1-hour lunch (provided)

Thursday, August 22: Class 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., 1-hour lunch (provided)

Friday, August 23: Exam check-in 8:00 to 9:00 a.m., Exam 9:00 to 11:25 a.m. 

Location: New Mexico Junior College Training and Outreach Center

The two day course, and 1/2 day exam will enable those who pass the exam to receive their CPSI Certification.

The option to take the CPSI exam via computer based testing is available through the NRPA. To obtain additional information please visit www.nrpa.org/cpsi Please be advised if you register to take the examination with the course, you will not receive a refund to take your exam via computer based testing at a later date. Please decide now if you would like to take the exam on Day 3 of the course or via a Computer Based Exam at a later date.

A candidate who has a disability may request a special accommodation; the request must be submitted in writing at the time of course or exam registration. In order to properly accommodate all persons with disabilities it is recommended that all requests be made 45 days prior to the scheduled date for the course and exam.

English as second language (ESL) candidates may request a time extension and/or the use of a strict translation dictionary. Request forms/fees must be submitted to NRPA no less than 30 days prior to the exam. The request form is available online at www.nrpa.org/cpsi. The course host will work collaboratively with NRPA to ensure all approved reasonable accommodations are met.

Certified Pool Operator (CPO) Course

Course/Exam Fee: $325

Thursday, August 22: Class 8:00 a.m .to 3:00 p.m., Exam 3:30 to 5:30 p.m., lunch 11:45 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. (on your own)

Location: Lea County Events Center

Instructor: Florence Higgins, Higgins Environmental Solutions

This course will be taught by a National Pool and Spa Foundation Certified Instructor and those passing the exam will receive their CPO certification. Please plan to bring a calculator to the course, as you will NOT be able use the calculator on your phone during the exam.  This course will take place on Wednesday and Thursday, August 21 & 22.

Journeyman Irrigation License Test Prep Course

Location: New Mexico Junior College Training and Outreach Center

Instructor: Jim Corcoran, Professional Grounds Management, LLC

This course will prepare participants to take the exam to receive their Journeyman Irrigation License. (The exam is NOT a part of this Test Prep Course.) This two day test prep course will take place on Wednesday and Thursday, August 21 & 22. 

Participants can expect to gain in-depth knowledge of irrigation system maintenance & troubleshooting techniques, backflow prevention requirements, and sports turf management techniques.

For those who already possess a Journeyman Irrigation License, 8 CEU’s towards annual license renewal can be obtained by attending the first day of this course for a cost of $125.
